John E. “Jack” Heavisides

West Lebanon, NH – John E. “Jack” Heavisides, 93, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.

Jack was born in Lebanon NH, the eldest of John G.L. and Erma (Nichols) Heavisides. He attended the One Room School House, and graduated from Hartford High School, Class of 1951, then served in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and worked at the Hartford Oil Company.

He married Theresa Carter on October 6, 1956. They raised four children in West Lebanon. They enjoyed square dancing at Twin State Squares, where Jack served as president for a time. Jack & Theresa enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage until her death in 2006.

After working at Hartford Oil, Jack worked at Allard Dairy then Super Test Milk, but his true vocation was that of a skilled carpenter. Jack took his first position with Sheldon Bellemore, later working for Quechee Lakes, Max Boynton and Brian Alderfer before becoming self-employed until his retirement.

Jack was an active member of the Hartford Alumni Association, and a former member of the United Brethren Masonic Lodge 21 F&AM in White River Jct.

He is survived by his children, Karen Perkins (Don); Katherine Plunkett (Tom); John ‘Jay’ Heavisides (Celia; and Janet Drake (Collin); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Clifford, brother, Douglas (Carol); and sister-in-law, Sandy Heavisides, and Carole Hamilton, a longtime family friend, who for seven years was Jack’s companion and caregiver, to whom the family is very grateful.

A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Sunday, March 22nd from 1-3pm followed by a funeral service at 3pm. Interment with full military honors will be held at a later date in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
