Thanks to ‘Freedom Walk’ participants
To those who turned out on Jan. 20 for a “Freedom Walk” in New London, I would like to say “thank you.”.Over 100 participants came from Springfield, Newbury, Newport, Sunapee, Sutton, Wilmot, Andover and New London to brave the cold! But people said they wanted to protest what was happening in Minneapolis, ICE aggression against American citizens and legal immigrants, and the international imperialism of President Trump’s administration.
They were Republicans, Democrats and Undeclareds who wanted to show solidarity against what is happening in our country and to raise visibility of the anti-constitutional initiatives which are undermining our freedoms. Signs spoke directly and one said “JOIN US” as an invitation to those who have not participated in peaceful protests before.
Everyone needs to be actively engaged, be that on the streets or through supportive action for elected officials who are fighting for our rights.
