Claremont — TLC Family Resource Center will be hosting a special online fundraising day on Tuesday.

As part of Giving Tuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match up to $2 million in charitable donations made through Facebook. Donations made via TLC’s Facebook page will be used to advance the organization’s mission of serving families in need throughout Sullivan and Grafton counties.

“This year we celebrated our 25th anniversary. While we have made an impact in our quest to help all families for our first 25 years, we have much work yet to do,” Executive Director Maggie Monroe-Cassel said in a news release. “Many families are still struggling and are facing a wide variety of barriers.”

In addition, TLC is also making its annual appeal for donation. This year the theme is “Breaking Down Barriers.” On the organization’s website, there is a wall made from barriers to happy, healthy families, including everything from housing insecurity to knowledge about good nutrition.

For every $200 raised, a barrier block will be removed from the virtual wall, symbolizing how TLC breaks down barriers for the families it serves.
