Big Green players receive Ivy League honors

Following Dartmouthโ€™s dramatic 17-16 last-second win over Yale on Saturday, two Big Green athletes were recognized with Ivy League Player of the Week honors on their respective sides of the ball.

Junior kicker Owen Zalc, who has struggled at times this season and had only hit three out of seven field goal attempts before Saturday’s game-winner, came through in the clutch for Dartmouth.

Zalc shook off two misses earlier in the game and hit the game-winning 51-yard field goal as time expired to give his team the win and earn Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Senior defensive back Sean Williams, who picked off Yaleโ€™s quarterback Dante Reno in the fourth quarter to help his teamโ€™s comeback efforts, was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.

Williams also had five tackles and a pass breakup to earn the accolade.

Zalc and Williams join senior running back D.J. Crowther, who won Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after Dartmouth’s opener against UNH, as members of the Big Green’s football team to be recognized with an Ivy League Player of the Week award.

The three Ivy League games remaining are against Princeton, Yale and Cornell, all three of which are in the bottom half of the league standings.
