Ramona Torrey
Bennington, VT – At age 91, Ramona Torrey went to be with her Lord and
passed on August 27, 2025. She was born in Morrisville to Archie and
Winnifred Prior. With the family having moved to Westminster, VT, in
her youth, she was active in her church choir and in 4-H. She also
exhibited God-given talents in oil painting, crocheting and playing
the autoharp.
After graduating in 1953 from Bellows Falls High School, Ramona worked
for a packaging company in Concord, NH, and in the following phases of
her life lived in Maine, and Indiana before settling in Ascutney, VT
where she worked as a caregiver. She became a long-term member of the
Assembly of God Church in Springfield, VT, and was known for her
unshakeable faith despite the many hardships she had in her life.
In 2011, Ramona met the love of her life, Victor Torrey, and they were
married in 2012. Later, they moved to a nursing home in Bennington
where they spent the last years of their lives together.
She is predeceased by her parents, older sister, Isabelle, older
brothers, Maurice, Clyde, Richard and youngest sister, Barbara, and
her beloved husband, Victor. She is survived by 11 nieces and nephews,
and many grand nieces and nephews and her best friends, Daniel and
Rhonda Bruce.
A memorial service will be held at the Assembly of God Church at 269
River St., Springfield, VT at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27. In
lieu of flowers, donations in Ramona’s memory may be made to the
Springfield Assembly of God Church.
