HANOVER — Applications to enter the lottery for deer management permits are open now through Aug. 15.
In an effort to promote biodiversity and manage deer populations, Hanover issues permits to 150 qualified hunters each year through a lottery system. The permits allow hunters to harvest up to two antlerless deer in designated areas in town.
Applications along with a copy of a hunting license and photo ID can be delivered to the Hanover Town Office located at 41 South Main St. or mailed to the same address.
Lottery winners can expect to be contacted between Aug. 19 and 22. Town officials plan to mail permits on Aug. 25.
