White River Junction — The Hartford High boys soccer team is back to its winning ways. The Hurricanes snapped a two-game winless streak with a 3-0 defeat of Mount Anthony on Wednesday at the Maxfield Sports Complex.

Junior Kyle Prior scored a hat trick for Hartford (7-3-2), giving him a team-high 14 goals this season. Pat McGlone assisted on Prior’s first goal, which came off a corner kick during the 27th minute and gave the Canes a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Prior took a feed from Nick Jones in the 43rd minute to put the hosts in front by two. Callum Brittain added an assist on Prior’s third goal, which came during the 72nd minute. Goalkeepers Jordy Allard and Nick Dorain combined for seven saves.

“It was a good team effort,” Hartford coach Kevin Guilbault said. “It’s always nice to get wins at this time of the year and to get some momentum built up.”

Guilbault praised the play of defenders Pat Brady and Alex St. Martin for their work during the Canes’ sixth shutout of the season. Next up is a visit to Burr & Burton on Friday afternoon. The Hurricanes and Bulldogs battled to a 2-2 tie on Sept. 27.

Kimball Union 4, Brewster 0

Meriden — The Wildcats finally broke things open with all four goals coming in the final 12 minutes.

Jon Schafer’s corner set up Jon Grigull in the 68th minute to put KUA on the board first. Ben Tardiff took a feed from Thomas Pierce three minutes later to score an insurance goal. Schafer then blasted home a loose ball from 24 yards before Tardiff assisted Pierce for another late score.

KUA (6-0-1) visits Proctor Academy at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Lyndon 3, Thetford 1

Thetford — The Panthers (8-3-1) couldn’t overcome an early 2-0 deficit. The Vikings built that lead in the first 21 minutes.

Jackson Hall answered for Thetford in the 34th minute when he stopped a clearing pass and fired in a shot from 35 yards.

The Vikings closed the scoring with four minutes remaining. Anthony Stoffel had six saves for Thetford.

Littleton 2, Woodsville 1

Littleton, n.h. — Alex Enderson gave the Engineers a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute off an Antonio Houde feed and Cooper Davidson played well in net, but the visitors dropped to 10-3.

Girls Soccer Whitcomb-Rochester 4 Cabot 2

Cabot, Vt. — The Mountaineers scored a pair in each half to beat the Huskies and improve to 6-5 on the season.

Sammy Barcomb and Hayley Mears each had goals in the first half for the visitors. Grace LaFromboise added a penalty kick goal and Mears tallied her second of the day to cap the scoring after the break. Mears, LaFromboise and Brianna Hillier each had assists.

Keeper Krista Townsend had six saves for the Mountaineers.

Coe-Brown 3, Lebanon 1

Northwood, n.h. — The Raiders led in the early going, but couldn’t hold on against the Black Bears.

Anna Wolke scored on a penalty kick midway through the first half to put Lebanon in front, 1-0. The goal was the fourth of the season for Wolke. Coe-Brown answered with a pair of goals before halftime and then netted the only score after the break.

Lebanon (3-10) hosts Manchester West on Friday in its “Play for the Cure game” for cancer awareness.

Littleton 3Woodsville 2 (2 ot)

Littleton, n.h. — Susan Aubin’s game-winner in the 93rd minute handed the Engineers a heartbreaking loss.

Molly Clough scored on an assist to Jasmine Smith in the fourth minute to give Woodsville (5-7-3) an early lead. Littleton answered in the 32nd minute before Suzy Bazzell, with an assist to Courtney Derrington, scored in the 61st to put the Engineers back in front. The Crusaders again answered when they tallied an equalizer just two minutes later to knot the score and set up extra time.

Keeper McKenzie Dennis had six saves for the Engineers.

Field HockeyStevens 3, Mascoma 2 (ot)

Claremont — Jennie Morey scored 53 seconds into overtime as Stevens (10-4) edged Mascoma in its regular-season finale.

Scotlyn Daignault and Elyse Scott also scored for the Cardinals, and Scott added an assist.

Mascoma (6-6-1) visits Kearsarge on Friday in its last game before the playoffs.

Women’s Basketball Big Green to Honor Former Coach

Hanover — Dartmouth will honor Chris Wielgus, the team’s head coach for 28 years, on Jan. 28 with the dedication of the Christina H. Wielgus Lounge located in the basketball office suite.

Wielgus and her family, along with the Friends of Dartmouth Basketball, will hold the public ceremony in Leede Arena at 10:30 a.m., and a free celebration lunch at noon. To register for the event, visit www.DartmouthSports.com/WielgusLounge.

Wielgus, the winningest coach of any women’s program at Dartmouth with a career record of 393-342 (.535), guided Dartmouth to 12 Ivy League titles, seven trips to the NCAA Tournament.
