The precautionary boil order was issued after ongoing construction required installation of a temporary water main. That water main was disinfected, but has not yet been tested.
The order has been issued for the following streets: Worthen Street, Cameron Avenue, Bliss Street, Guyer Street, West Street, Mascoma Street (from Cameron Avenue to High Street), Young Street (from Worthen Street to Bliss Street) and Granite Street (from Mascoma Street to West Street).
Residents are urged not to drink water until it has been boiled. Water should be brought to a boil and boiled for at least two minutes and cooled before it is consumed. Pre-boiled water or bottled water can be used for brushing teeth, food preparation, washing dishes and making ice until further notice.
City officials said they anticipate the water issue will be resolved within five business days. For more information, call Jay Cairelli at 603-448-3112.
