Marbles, adoptable from River Valley Animal Protection League

Marbles is a little bitty tortoiseshell kitty. She is the kind of all-around great cat that we all hope to find when looking to adopt.

Marbles enjoys running and playing with the youngsters, but is past the climbing and house-wrecking stage. She loves to be petted and held. She has kneady paws and a ready purr, and generally minds her own business around other animals.

Marbles would be a great fit for nearly any family, though introductions with dogs should be well monitored, as she does not put up with any guff from nosey pups.

Marbles is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.

Skittles, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name is Skittles and I’m an 8-year-old spayed female.

“I have a sad story for you. This is my third time at Lucy Mackenzie. I was originally surrendered when my first humans were moving and couldn’t take me with them. I was adopted and lived for three wonderful years with my second human, until she passed away. After being here for four months, I was adopted again and lived another three wonderful years with my third human, who really loved me, too, until she passed away. So, here I am, at Lucy Mackenzie, again, looking for a loving home to call my own.

“I’m a mostly independent cat that will seek affection when I like, and will walk away when I want to be alone. I like mostly older people, and would do best in a home without small children, as they don’t seem to understand me well. I’d be tickled to be an only cat, too!

“If you could help out a gal that could really use a break in life, stop in and meet me today!”

Skittles is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

Adoptables-070816-Sullivan-Lovely.jpg

Lovely, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 1.5-year-old Lovely. And I certainly am lovely!

“I showed up in someone’s yard a few months ago and followed them around constantly — and tried to get into their home. So, not wanting me to live a life on the streets, they called the humane society.

“I am very sweet to people but do not like other cats and therefore am having a difficult time at the shelter. I am vet-checked, spayed, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative.”

Lovely is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.

Adoptables-070816-UVHS-Jay.jpg

Jay, adoptable from the Upper Valley Humane Society

“Hi, I’m Jay! I’m 4 years old and I sure am cute. I may be small, but I have a big personality. I am extremely bright and I love to play with toys. I adore attention, and once I’m comfortable with you, I’ll want to sit on your lap all the time!

“I’m looking for someone strict but kind. I might be OK to live with another small dog, pending introductions, but large dogs are overwhelming for me. I also need an adult-only home, since children make me nervous.

“My canine personality is busy bee: I’m a naturally playful, curious and trusting canine. Take me for a big walk everyday; give me something to do. After my job’s done, I’ll curl up in front of the fire with you in the evenings.”

Jay is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Adoptables-070816-Potters-Ben-(1).jpg

Ben, adoptable from Potter’s Angels Rescue

“Hi! My name is Ben and I am a snuggly guy just looking for a home to call my own. My foster mom says I’m affectionate (I love to be in laps!) and well-behaved. I’m also a bit shy and fearful at first.

“I enjoy taking lots of naps and spending time outside. I’m cordial with other dogs, but wary of large dogs. It’s possible that I may try to sneak a bit of another dog’s food. I’m good with kids and love to ask for pets and belly rubs.

“I’m scared of people doing things with my paws so a professional groomer might be best for nail appointments. I would really like it if someone paid attention to my grooming needs and brushed me every couple days.

“I am quiet, non-destructive and not really interested in toys. I’m also house trained, crate trained and walk well on a leash. When my people are not home I have the run of the house, and am usually napping on the window sill when they get home.”

Ben is a 10-pound, 4-year-old, Chihuahua/Papillon mix. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Ben is up for adoption from Potter’s Angels Rescue, based in East Randolph. Submit an application here. Potter’s Angels is also on Facebook.
