POMFRET, VT — Edward Stanley Simonds, 76 died November 4, 2018 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born December 21, 1941 in Bellows Falls, VT to Gladys (Avery) Simonds. He attended Woodstock Union High School in Woodstock, VT. For many years he worked at the White River Paper Co. in Hartford, VT and Coles Flooring Co. in West Lebanon, NH.
He married Nancy Walker when he was a young man and they had three children together. They later divorced. On September 25, 1976 he married Marion Lyford. They lived in White River Jct., Sharon and for the last 33 years in Pomfret.
He enjoyed fishing, crossword and word search puzzles, woodworking, feeding the birds and watching other wildlife animals.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching college football and basketball games.
He is survived by his wife, Marion of Strafford, VT; four sons, William Simonds of Charlestown, NH; Shawn Simonds of Sunapee, NH; George Simonds of Strafford, VT and Willard “Wink” Simonds of Wilder, VT; a daughter, Teri Aldrich of Goshen, NH; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Perkins of Hartford, VT and Sharon French of Ninety Six, SC and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; a stepson, Charlie Rogers and two stepdaughters, Mary Demar and Sandra Lisi.
There are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held in the spring of the year 2019 at the Riverside Cemetery in Chelsea, VT.
