Carolyn Dugas and her husband Will Ficher, of Windsor, Vt., photograph a Calvatia craniiformis, commonly known as a skull-shaped puffball mushroom in Windsor on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023. Dugas does a lot of mushroom foraging. A co-worker had mentioned the mushroom growing near Simon Pearce where they work. After work they were checking the large fungus out.
