Lebanon — A fire on Wednesday night displaced five adults and four children from an apartment building on Butternut Lane.

Lebanon Fire Chief Chris Christopoulos said the cause of the 10 p.m. fire remains under investigation. It is not considered suspicious, he wrote in a news release.

Several cats were inside at the time of the fire, and rescue personal gave two of them oxygen before they could be transported to SAVES in Lebanon.

Three apartments were deemed unsafe. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced individuals with housing.
