Hanover — Micah Schroder, a sophomore on the Dartmouth College women’s softball team, hit a walk-off RBI up the middle in the bottom of the seventh inning against Yale on Sunday, driving in teammate Claire Bird to secure a 3-2 win at Dartmouth’s Softball Park and complete the three-game sweep of the Bulldogs.

Schroder led the Big Green offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a strikeout. Dartmouth improved to 19-16 overall this spring, and 13-5 in the Ivy League, winning its fourth in a row on Sunday. The Bulldogs fell to 10-30 overall.

Dartmouth senior Breanna Ethridge allowed an earned run and six hits in six innings of work during Saturday’s seven-inning affair. She also struck out four. Heather Turner entered the game in the seventh, allowing a run, a hit and a walk in the seventh inning to allow Yale to tie the game, 2-2. Schroder’s heroics in the bottom of the inning secured the win.

“It’s good for us to learn how to play in those situations,” said Dartmouth head coach Shannon Doepking. “I think it’s been a little bit since we’ve had to play in that situation, and for us to be able to execute and figure out what we need to do to get a game like that in. As we go down the stretch these are great games for us to have to sit in and execute, when our backs are against the wall.”

The Big Green held a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before Yale finally found some offense, a solo home run by pinch hitter Phylicia Wilkov. Yale’s Sydney Ginsberg hit an RBI double in the seventh to tie the game, 2-2.

Schroder leads Dartmouth with a .349 batting average, 26 RBIs and 38 hits. Tatyanah Castillo was 2-for-2 with an RBI, McKenna Gray was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Calista Almer was 1-for-3 for the Big Green. Dartmouth out-hit Yale, 10-7; the Bulldogs committed two errors in the loss.
