Lebanon firefighters Jeff Clattenburg and Trey Whalen, Claremont’s Michael Snide, Woodsville’s Louis Loutrel and Hartford’s Christian Henault will be part of the 21-player Team Fire roster that will take on Team Police in the annual game. Players selected are asked to pay $1,500 to join in the contest, which has raised nearly $1.7 million over its existence for CHaD.
Clattenburg has participated in all but one of the previous meetings. This will be Snide’s fourth time playing, the third for Henault and the second for Loutrel and Whalen, who is a former Lebanon High forward.
The teams will be practicing monthly leading up to the game, which has a 3 p.m. puck drop. Tickets are $10 each, with children ages 5 and younger getting in for free. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Woodstock
Skylar Haley scored twice for the Wasps, who also picked up goals from Faye Stevens, Beale Dunn and Lilly Gubbins. Maggie Mellow posted the only assist.
Woodstock lost Sunday’s contest at Leddy Arena to Burlington, 5-1. Stevens accounted for the Wasps’ goal.
Canaan
Returning to Union Arena on Sunday, Woodstock dropped a 4-2 decision to visiting Essex. Calef Hepler scored both goals for the Wasps, with Chase Christiansen earning an assist on one of them.
Woodstock
The Wasps owned a 39-5 edge in shots, and Charles Greene scored four times to lead an attack that included two goals from Aiden Yaes and one from Luke Ricci. Yates, Riley Sepherd, Mathew Sites and Field Willis all had two assists, while Ricci and Andrew Gubbins contributed one each. Keaton Piconi lent his goaltending services to Stowe for the contest.
The Wasps kept the shutout string going on Saturday with a 3-0 blanking of Middlebury. Gubbins, Willis and Bissaillon provided the goals.
Woodstock
Henry Trimpi and Trey Jones scored twice at Union Arena on Saturday in a 5-4 loss to Northshire Blue. Woodstock hit the road to Stowe early on Saturday morning but dropped a 5-3 decision to the Raiders, with Trimpi, Charlie Macko and Griffin Piconi finding the net.
Woodstock also dropped a 5-1 contest to Barre Blue on Sunday. Macko converted a Piconi pass for the Wasps’ goal.
Wilder
West Lebanon’s Nicole Suckowwon Level 3 for 11-year-old competitors by posting an all-around score 33.55 points from the four implements used at the meet. Etna’s Samantha Simmons won Level 7 among girls ages 11 and 12 with 36.125 points.
Another Level 7 gymnast, Lebanon’s Faith Powell, took home honors in the 15-and-older age group with 34.20 points. Xcel Bronze competitor Dina Hertog-Raz, of Norwich, closed out Northern Lights’ all-around successes by winning her 15-to-18 age group with 34.20 points as well.
Northern Lights also received runner-up efforts in all-around competition from Cornish Flat’s Jenna Spaulding (35.325) in Levels 6-7 for 13- and 14-year-olds and Norwich’s Shaylee McBride (35.65) in Level 8 among gymnasts ages 15 and older.
New London
Robb’s Warming Hut will open for the season on Jan. 21 with pizza slices and guitar music from noon to 2 p.m. Pine Hill will also host its annual Pancake Breakfast, also from noon to 2 p.m., on Feb. 25. Admission is a donation for both events.
The area’s appreciation day for landowners of the PHSC will be on March 5, marking 40 years for the area. Participants can meet at the trail head from hot dogs or veggie burgers from noon to 1:30 p.m.

White River Junction
The program provides a fun way for children to be physically active, develop confidence and build their self-esteem. Participants will learn the basics of cheerleading with the hope of instilling enthusiasm for the sport as they get older.
Each cheerleader will get a team T-shirt as part of registration and participation. Practices will be held on three Saturdays in January (Jan. 9, 16 and 23) in advance of a competition scheduled for Jan. 30.
Participants should wear appropriate shoes and clothing for an outdoor activity along with black pants; they should also bring a water bottle. The program is open to grades K-6 and costs $40 for Hartford residents and $55 for nonresidents.

Concord
Speakers for the conference will include retired Hofstra University coach Bill Edwards and Dartmouth College assistant coaches Molly Fichtner and Jackie Traina. After the conference, Fichtner and Traina will lead 30 pitchers and catchers through a three-hour clinic.
The cost for coaches is $50 through Dec. 19 and $65 at the door. The cost for players seeking to join the clinic is $150 through Dec. 19 and $160 if postmarked after the deadline. Player costs include admission to the conference as well.

White River Junction
Wednesday Walkers features easy morning hikes at sites around the Upper Valley.
Each hike begins by meeting at the Hartford Municipal Building at 9 a.m. for transportation to that day’s hike. The winter schedule:
Jan 25: Mill Road Trail, Lebanon.
Feb. 8: Storrs Pond, Hanover.
March 1: Mink Brook Marsh, Hanover.
Participants are asked to bring snacks, bottled water, properly layered clothing and proper footwear to handle winter conditions. Wednesday Walkers is open to all ages, and each hike is done by noon.
