FAIRLEE, Vt. — Tee Opperman is in the lead of the Jeff Julian Memorial Vermont Open Championship at five under par heading into Wednesday’s final round.

Opperman shot a 69, one stroke under par, in round one, but shot 66, four under par, in round two to end up at 135 overall. The Pawleys Island, S.C., native is ahead of second-place Alex Blickle by two strokes. Blickle is at 137 total.

Round one leader Matthew Campbell is tied for third with amateur Bryson Richards at 138 strokes. Campbell finished shot a 71, one over par, in round two after shooting 67 on Monday. Richards climbed up the leaderboard Tuesday, shooting a tournament-best 65, five under par, after finishing three over par in round one.

Amateurs Will Frodigh and Thomas McCormick, who were tied for second going into the second round, sit in a tie for fifth with Garth McGee at 139. Both amateurs finished one over par Tuesday. McGee shot a 70, even with par.

The top 48 golfers made the cut for the third round. The cutoff was 150 total strokes.

The final round begins Wednesday at 8 a.m. Groups of three will tee off every 10 minutes, starting with the bottom three golfers who made the cut and going up the leaderboard with Opperman, Blickle, and Campbell set to begin play at 10:30 a.m.
