ENFIELD — A 29-year-old Enfield man was sentenced to 29 months in federal prison for unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.

Scotty Gonzalez pleaded guilty in April to federal gun charges after probation officers in 2019 found him in possession of a rifle and more than 300 rounds of ammunition. Gonzalez, who was previously convicted of a felony and a misdemeanor related to domestic violence, cannot legally possess firearms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

“In order to protect public safety, we must keep guns out of the hands of criminals,” Acting U.S. Attorney John Farley said in the release.

Gonzalez’s case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with assistance from New Hampshire Probation and Parole officers.
