Charlestown, N.H. —
He was born in Saxtons River, Vt. on Sept. 9, 1923 – the doctor came the next day and gave him the birthdate of Sept. 10. He was the 11 child of 17 born to Clarence Kinney and Olive Gilbert Kinney.
After marrying the love of his life Henrietta Lake in 1946, they moved to Charlestown where they spent most of their life until retiring to Largo, Florida.
Edward was a War World II and Korean War Veteran, earning a Purple Heart at the Battle of the Bulge, a Silver Star in Korea and 2 Combat Infantry Badges. He was a Charter Member of the Charlestown VFW Post 8497, a lifetime member of Springfield VFW Post 771, a member of Largo Legion Post 0119 and a longtime member of St. Catherine’s Church in Charlestown.
He was employed by Keil Lock and the Charlestown Post Office. He lived a full life traveling between N.H., Maine, Chile and Florida. He loved time with family, crafting with Henrietta, and fishing with the boys. He always had a smile, joke and song in heart; “If you were lucky he would let the song out”
He was predeceased by his parents, nine brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Henrietta; daughter, Nancy Lambert and husband Robert of Largo; sons Edward Kinney and wife Janice of Manchester; Nelson Kinney of Largo; John Kinney and wife Denise of Manchester; Paul Kinney and wife Maria of Chile; special nephew Lawrence Kinney of Charlestown, his sister, Irene Baker of Charlestown and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
There will be no services per his wishes.
