BETHEL, VT — Barbara Ann (Mills) Hayward, 77, passed away from a stroke the evening of November 20, 2019 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, VT.
Barb was born April 26, 1942, in Stockbridge, VT, the daughter of Walter Myron Mills, Sr. and Helen Mae (Brown) Mills. She graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1961 and started working at G. W. Plastics in Bethel where she worked as a Quality Control Technician until her retirement in 2008. Barb was a hard-working, dedicated employee.
Barb married James Warner Hayward on October 19, 1963 at the United Church of Bethel. They settled in Bethel and had one daughter Tammy Lyn. Jim passed away from cancer in July of 1982 and Barb never remarried.
Barb loved anything to do with the beach such as collecting shells, beach glass and sand dollars. She would spend a month each summer camping ocean side on the beach in York Harbor, ME with her sister Pat. All of their siblings would join them based on a rotating schedule. She liked to be outdoors whether she was walking or taking pictures. Barb also liked listening to country music and always enjoyed a good cup of clam chowder. In her younger years she loved to decorate cakes. Barb was an amazing mother and grandmother who also helped others during times of hardship. For the last several years, her great-granddaughters were her pride and joy….just receiving daily pictures of them would brighten her day. Barb will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barb was predeceased by her husband and parents; sisters Celinda Robinson and Edith Trask; a brother Charlie Mills; brother-in-law Charlie Lyman; nephews Chuck Mills and Larry Robinson; mother-in-law Marie Hayward; and father-in-law Harold Hayward.
She is survived by her daughter Tammy and son-in-law Gordon Moffatt of Canaan, NH; granddaughter Christa Robert and her husband Cory and their daughters Cora and Charlotte of Grafton, NH; step granddaughters Becky Moffatt and her children Morgan, Makenna and Cayden of Grafton, NH; Deana Champney and her daughters Karla and Carmen of Reading, VT; sisters Cynthia Jarvis (Alfred) of Randolph, VT; Pat Lyman of Bethel, VT; Debbie Antiuk (Mike) of Bethel, VT; Connie Kellogg (Jon) of Peacham, VT; a brother Walter Mills Jr. (Gloria) of Bethel, VT; and brother-in-laws Elbert Trask of South Royalton, VT and Arthur Robinson of Strafford, VT; and many nieces and nephews.
