Boston— Joakim Nordstrom scored 1:57 into overtime and the Boston Bruins beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 2-1, on Friday night.

Jake DeBrusk also scored and Jaroslav Halak made 36 saves for the Bruins.

Evgeni Malkin scored the only goal for Pittsburgh, which was trying to win back-to-back games for the first time in nearly a month.

Tristan Jarry had 35 saves for the Penguins, getting his first start of the season one day after being recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL after the Penguins placed Matt Murray on injured reserve on Thursday.

Jarry played well, but had no chance on the game-winner when Nordstrom tipped a pass from Torey Krug into the net to end it. David Pastrnak also had an assist on the overtime goal.

Malkin put the Penguins up 1-0 on a power-play goal 6:09 into the second as Boston’s David Krejci sat out a tripping minor. Kris Letang and Phil Kessel assisted on the goal for Malkin, who has a point in six straight games.

DeBrusk tied it for Boston on a slap shot with 6:20 left in the second on a give-and-go with David Krejci. Kevan Miller also assisted.

The Bruins thought they had another goal with 2:35 left in the second, when David Backes raised his arms after trying to squeeze the puck between Jarry and the post, but the referee signaled no-goal. The call was upheld after a lengthy review, drawing the ire of Boston fans who booed the officials a second time when they skated out for the third period.

Pittsburgh got a late power play when Pastrnak was called for delay of game with 9:19 left in the third after flipping the puck over the glass in the Boston zone. Halak gloved a backhand by Crosby with 8:37 on Pittsburgh’s best chance before Pastrnak returned.

Notes: Friday was the Penguins’ only visit to Boston this season. … The Bruins were without captain D Zdeno Chara (lower body) and alternate captain C Patrice Bergeron (rib).

Flyers 4, Rangers 0

Philadelphia — Sean Couturier scored a pair of goals, Calvin Pickard made 31 saves in his 12th career shutout and the Philadelphia beat New York to stop a four-game losing streak.

Travis Konecny had a goal, two assists and got into a fight, Jordan Weal scored an empty-net goal and Claude Giroux had three assists for Philadelphia, which entered tied for last in the Metropolitan conference. The Flyers scored three goals in the final 5 minutes, 21 seconds.

Ducks 2, Oilers 1 (ot)

Anaheim, Calif. — Rickard Rakell scored 14 seconds into overtime, and Anaheim rallied to beat Edmonton.

The Ducks earned their second straight win after a pair of overtime losses to Toronto and Colorado. Nick Ritchie tied the game with 16.2 seconds remaining, and John Gibson made 27 saves.

Islanders 4, Devils 3 (ot)

Newark, n.j. — Mathew Barzal scored on a his own rebound after being stopped on a breakaway at 3:40 of overtime and New York beat New Jersey.

Jordan Eberle, Anders Lee and Nick Leddy also scored to help the Islanders snap a two-game losing streak and beat the Devils for the second time this season. Thomas Greiss made 39 saves.

Sabres 3, Canadiens 2

Buffalo, n.y. — Jeff Skinner scored 3:06 into overtime after getting the tying goal late in regulation, and the Sabres beat Montreal for their eighth straight victory.

Buffalo’s win streak is the longest in the NHL at the moment and the team’s best stretch since winning 10 in a row to start the 2006-07 season.

Capitals 3, Red Wings 1

Washington — Michal Kempny and Alex Ovechkin scored 1:56 apart in the third period, helping the Capitals beat Detroit for their season-high fourth consecutive victory.

Kempny snapped a 1-1 tie with a slap shot at 6:38, and Ovechkin extended the lead to 3-1 with his 16th of the season.

Wild 4, Jets 2

St. Paul, Minn. — Eric Staal scored with 2:31 remaining to send Minnesota over Winnipeg in an emotional, penalty-filled matchup.

Nino Niederreiter, Eric Fehr and Zach Parise also scored for Minnesota, which trailed 2-0 after two periods.

Blue Jackets 4Maple Leafs 2

Columbus, Ohio — Cam Atkinson scored for the sixth straight game, and Columbus beat Toronto to remain atop the Metropolitan Division.

Josh Anderson had two goals and Markus Hannikainen also scored, helping the Blue Jackets avenge a 4-2 loss at Toronto on Monday.

Knights 2, Flames 0

Las Vegas — Alex Tuch had a goal and an assist in his 100th career game, and Vegas beat Calgary.

The Golden Knights avenged a 7-2 loss at Calgary on Monday, when the Flames opened up a 5-0 lead after just one period.

Lightning 4, Blackhawks 2

Tampa, Fla. — Tyler Johnson scored twice, Nikita Kucherov had three assists and Tampa Bay beat Chicago.

Ryan Callahan and Brayden Point also scored for Tampa Bay, which improved to 13-0-2 in the past 15 regular-season meetings with Chicago.

Hurricanes 4, Panthers 1

Raleigh, n.c. — Jordan Martinook recorded a hat trick and Carolina defeated Florida.

Martinook scored in the first period and added two goals in the third for the Hurricanes, who won their third straight game.
