Ballot voting, including electing officers, will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, at Town Hall. Dorchester’s town floor meeting will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Town Hall.

Dorchester — Voters at Town Meeting in Dorchester will weigh whether to extend a $100 tax credit to all veterans.

Selectboard Chairman Sherman Hallock said the current tax credit only applies to a select group of veterans who served during certain conflicts.

“All veterans deserve to get the tax credit. All veterans make the commitment to serve their country,” Hallock said. “We will see if that town wants to go ahead with that.”

Voters also will face an unusual Selectboard election because all three members that sat on the board last March resigned throughout the year, mostly for health reasons, Hallock said. That’s when he, Margaret Currier-Lemay and Craig Veasey stepped in.

Because all of the positions turned over, the board decided to put all of the seats up for re-election. Hallock, Lemay and Veasey all are running unopposed.

Residents will vote on a $444,400 proposed budget, which represents a 6 percent decrease, or about $35,000, over last year’s approved spending.

Three other articles on the budget ask voters to put money into capital reserve funds, including $1,000 for cemetery land acquisition and development, $8,000 for the town revaluation and $4,900 for the town building.
