West Lebanon, N.H. — Marjorie Ann Audette, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at her home surrounded by many loving family members and friends. She was known to her family as Mom, Mimi and Mike and her friends called her Marge.

Marjorie was one of eight children, born Jan. 8, 1933, in Lebanon, to Frank Wallace Sr and Marjorie Elisabeth Wallace (Griggs).

Marjorie graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950. She was a majorette in high school and was a member of the ski team. Her high school yearbook says her greatest asset was her friendly smile. Marjorie worked as an Usherette at the movie theater while she was in high school. She would ride her bike to work and at the end of her shift she would find notes in her bicycle basket from Louis. Later, she then went to work in the Biological Sciences department at Dartmouth College and retired after 40 years.

On Oct. 6, 1956, Marjorie married Louis A. Audette, also of Lebanon. She and Louis had three children and enjoyed raising them on Mascoma Lake where the family spent much of their time outside, enjoying boat rides around the lake, family picnics and celebrations. Marjorie was insistent her children learned to swim and she brought them to swim lessons every summer.

After retirement, Marjorie’s passion was learning to quilt. She enjoyed taking classes, choosing fabric and learning new techniques. Marjorie gifted many of her quilts to family and friends; the quilts are treasured keepsakes.

Marjorie was a member of the Women’s Relief Corps and attended many conventions at their national headquarters. This allowed her to travel with her mother and they also enjoyed local conventions at Weirs Beach each summer.

Marjorie was always up for an adventure and enjoyed traveling to Tennessee and Arkansas to visit with her brother’s family and her cousin Ted and his wife Mary Griggs. They enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge and the Grand Ole Opry. Marjorie tolerated the outdoors providing there was a barrier to the bugs. It was a delight to have her visit the Maine camp where her son-in-law built a screened porch for her. She also enjoyed visiting her grandchildren at their homes and attending their sporting events.

Marjorie and her husband Louis were married for nearly 62 years. Louis preceded Marjorie in death by only six days, a fitting testament to their bond.

Marjorie was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Ann in 1982, who had one daughter Jodi Lynn. Marjorie and Louis were proud to raise their granddaughter Jodi, who currently lives in Williamstown, Mass. with her husband Jim Easton and three children, Maxwell, Henry and Sylvia. Marjorie is survived by two children, her daughter Mary Beth and her husband Todd of Dover, N.H. and her son Robert and his wife Francine of Athens, Vt.

Marjorie and Louis have one grandson Jared Audette of Plainfield, N.H., a granddaughter Tessa Audette of Purcellville, Va. and her sister Racheal Perron of Bellows Falls, Vt.

Marjorie was predeceased by her brothers Richard of Lebanon, Robert who was killed in action in World War II, Frank of Florida, Donald of Tennessee and her sister Mary Skinner of Lebanon. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Stridde of Texas and Bonnie Iskandar of Lebanon.

Marjorie appreciated all the family support and care she received by the Blue Team at DHMC. It was important to her to continue to get out and live life despite her illness which required her to travel with oxygen. She will be remembered for her abundance of love and concern for the safety of her family. We will miss her waving goodbye to us from the window as we departed the driveway.

Calling hours will be held on May 14 at 9 a.m. at the Ricker Funeral home in Lebanon. A joint burial with her husband will follow at the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Upper Valley SPCA.
