The Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District Receives Hazardous Waste Grant

Hartland — The Greater Upper Valley Solid Waste Management District has received a Solid Waste Implementation Program grant of nearly $20,000 from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Conservation.

The $19,932.19 awarded to the district will be used to advertise four household hazardous waste collections in the district and to cover approximately half of the disposal costs for the collected materials. Collections will be held at the Hartford Transfer Station on June 2 and Aug. 4; and at the Woodstock Town Garage and the West Fairlee Town/VTrans Shed on Sept. 15. The goal of the project is to divert as much hazardous waste as possible from the landfill.
