ASCUTNEY, VT — Irene E. Gray, 91 died Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT.

She was born March 30, 1928 in South Royalton, VT the daughter of Iliff and Ethel (Clark) Lurvey. She attended school in South Royalton.

On August 30, 1944 she married Everett G. Gray of Tunbridge, VT. They lived in Tunbridge, VT and Charlestown, NH before moving to Ascutney, VT in 1958. Together they raised their large family.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Charlestown, NH, where on Wednesdays she loved to play bingo and help out.

She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, crocheting baby outfits for grandchildren and hats for Veterans at the V.A. Hospital. She also enjoyed teaching her family and others to crochet and cook.

She is survived by six sons Rod Gray (Linda) of Unity, NH, Everett Gray, Jr. (Cindy Slayton), David Gray (Jill) of South Royalton, VT, Tony Gray of Ascutney, VT, Mike Gray (Kim) of Missouri and Wayne Gray (Tammy) of Cornish, NH; two daughters Terry Platt of Florida and Darlene Leonard of Kentucky; a foster son Andy Cole of Ascutney, VT; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchildren; a brother Robert Lurvey of Charlestown, NH; two sisters Pauline Tuller of Randolph, VT and Rachel Vanguilder of Claremont, NH; several brother and sister in laws and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Everett on April 17, 1989, a daughter Joyce Gray, two brothers Donald Lurvey and Walter Lurvey, two sisters Arlene Rumrill and Viola Clark.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 2-4pm at the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110, Chelsea, VT. There will also be a get together held Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 1-6pm at the Tunbridge Town Hall, 277 VT RT 110 Tunbridge, VT. A graveside funeral service will be held later this spring in the Spring Road Cemetery in Tunbridge, VT.
