Woodstock — One hundred minutes of soccer on a chilly, gray afternoon ended with the Woodstock and Rivendell girls soccer teams battling to a 1-1 draw on Monday.

Mikayla DeBois put the Raptors on top in the 45th minute, scoring on a feed from Sienna Carter. Woodstock’s Addie Gray answered with an equalizer nine minutes later; Margaret O’Neill had the assist. Darkness was beginning to encroach on the proceedings as the overtimes played out, and neither team was able to crack the opposing defense for the game winner.

“It was a great game. It was well-controlled by both teams. It was a fun game to watch and we played amazingly well,” Rivendell coach Tim Goodwin said.

Freshman Raptors keeper Cora Day made 13 saves and drew praise from Goodwin for her continued strong play.

“She made a couple saves off corners and stopped some high shots. She’s really doing a lot well out there, it’s going to be nice to have for three more years,” Goodwin added. “(Woodstock is) well-coached; they have a great team. I’m so proud of my team for the way they worked together and played hard.”

Woodstock coach Greg LaBella was just as laudatory toward Wasps keeper Lydia Howe, saying, “(Howe) was stunning in goal.” Audrey Eggum and Alice Sperber each had strong games defensively for the Wasps. Fay Stevens played well in the midfield, according to LaBella.
