Williamstown, Vt. — Police say a 6-year-old boy has died in a house fire in Williamstown, Vt., that injured his mother and grandfather.
Vermont State Police say there were eight people in the house when the fire was reported at about 3:30 this morning.
Three family members were taken to the hospital. The child, 6-year-old Chance Martin, was pronounced dead at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Police say 44-year-old Kevin Lashomb, Chance’s grandfather, is listed in stable condition at the UVM Medical Center with burn injuries. His daughter, 23-year-old Tanika Lashomb, who is the mother of Chance, was treated and released.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
WPTZ-TV reports the boy was trapped in his bedroom.
Firefighters broke a window and rescued him.
