Sharon, Vt. —
She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Bethel, Vt., the daughter of Edward D. & Elizabeth (Pease) Hickey. She attended Bethel schools and graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1948. She graduated from the Household Nursing School in Newbury, Mass., and trained at Concord, Mass., Hospital. Marion was married to Donald B. Lawrence in Royalton on Feb. 24, 1952. They had lived in Claremont, N.H., then Cornish, N.H. They moved to Randolph Center in 1957, where they farmed until 1963 when they moved to Randolph Village, then to Sharon in 1978. Marion had worked as relief postmaster in Sharon, for Gifford Memorial Hospital, for the Stephen Patrick Christian Manor and at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction for over 17 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sharon and enjoyed knitting, watching sporting events, the outdoors and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Donald B. Lawrence of Sharon; sons, Michael D. Lawrence and wife, Amy of Montpelier, Timothy D. Lawrence and partner Deborah Gilfeather of W. Hartford, Vt.; daughters, Elinor Burnham of Bradford, N.H., Marrie Dawn Gilpin of Montpelier, Vt,, Laurie D. MacPhee of P.E.I, Canada; sisters, Mary Kathleen Spencer residing in South Carolina, Carol LaBounty residing in New Hampshire, Cheryl Paradis residing in Florida; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Helain Irene Robinson, sister Elizabeth A. Price, brother Edward D. Hickey III, and parents Elizabeth and Edward Hickey.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
