Hanover — Firefighters from eight area departments responded to a blaze Friday morning in a small cabin on Moose Mountain Road.

Emergency workers saved the structure, which saw “moderate” fire damage to the roof as well as water damage to the first and second floors, Hanover Fire Department Capt. Michael Gilbert said in an interview on Friday afternoon.

An alarm went out shortly before 10 a.m., and firefighters had the situation under control an hour later. Gilbert said the cause likely was a stovepipe that ignited the roof. Several people were in the cabin at the time, but there were no injuries, Gilbert said. Town records say the assessed value of the property at 15 Moose Mountain Road is about $11,000, and list the most recent owner as David Vincelette.

Firefighters from Hanover, Lebanon, Canaan, Enfield, Lyme, Hartford, Norwich and Grafton responded.
