Dartmouth-Hitchcock CEO Among ‘Physician Leaders to Know’

Lebanon — Dr. James N. Weinstein, CEO and president of Dartmouth-Hitchcock, has been named among 110 Physician Leaders to Know by Becker’s Hospital Review forthe second consecutive year.

The annual list features presidents and CEOs of hospitals and health systems who also hold medical degrees and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and clinical expertise throughout their careers, leading initiatives to improve their individual organizations and the health care of the communities they serve, according to Becker’s website. The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team considered nominations and conducted research to select leaders for the list.

Weinstein is an internationally renowned orthopedic spine surgeon who has spent decades studying the U.S. health care system, according to a news release from Dartmouth-Hitchcock. “He is a pioneer in empowering patients and families to be partners with their physicians and in changing and improving care through patient-reported measures.”

He is the co-author of Unraveled: Prescriptions to Repair a Broken Health Care System, which was published in February.

Weinstein is a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and chairs the Academies’ Committee on Community Based Solutions to Promote Health Equity in the United States.
