Dartmouth College announced Wednesday that it has reached an agreement on a contract extension with women’s basketball head coach Linda Cimino.

Cimino, who initially signed on with the Big Green in May 2023 after a five-year stint at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, is 26-55 through three seasons and was one game into her fourth campaign entering Thursday’s contest at Holy Cross.

The Big Green have improved their win total each season during Cimino’s tenure, after she took over a program that endured a two-year stretch in which it went 5-49 under Adrienne Shibles.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading Dartmouth women’s basketball and for the trust and support of Mike Harrity and the Dartmouth administration,” Cimino said in a news release.

“I’m especially thankful for our players, staff and incredibly supportive alumni who believe in our vision. We are building this program the right way, with the right people and a strong foundation for sustained success. I’m excited about our future and committed to continuing to elevate Dartmouth women’s basketball.”

The college didn’t reveal the length of the extension in the news release.

The Big Green finished with 10 wins last winter, the most for the program since a 10-win campaign in 2019-2020 under Belle Koclanes. Dartmouth opened the new season on Monday with a 56-49 win over Boston University at Leede Arena.

“Linda is a remarkable teacher who works tirelessly to build a connected team culture where student-athletes grow and develop,” Harrity noted in the release.

“She’s also a great teammate and has embraced Dartmouth, its students and its mission. Her drive for continuous improvement shows in the progress we’re making, and we are fully invested in what she and her team are building.”

Dartmouth kicks off a four-game Leede Arena homestand when UNH pays a visit next Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
