N.H. Governor Kelly Ayotte kept her promise

Gov. Kelly Ayotte made a promise to protect the New Hampshire Advantage, and throughout her first term, she has delivered on that commitment. From keeping taxes low to ensuring state government lives within its means, Gov. Ayotte has demonstrated the leadership and commitment to our state that Granite Staters deserve.

As governor, Kelly Ayotte has stood firm against efforts to impose an income tax or sales tax, opposed efforts to bring back the Interest and Dividends Tax and establish a death tax, and remained committed to protecting the low-tax environment that makes New Hampshire such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

Her record speaks for itself. She vetoed the paint tax, opposed efforts by Vail Resorts to impose a sales tax, and stood against increases to the Business Profits Tax, Business Enterprise Tax, and Meals and Rooms Tax. She also balanced a difficult state budget without raising taxes, demonstrating that state government can live within its means while protecting the New Hampshire Advantage.

That record stands in contrast to her opponent, former Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington, whose background includes lobbying for Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, and support for higher taxes.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with Gov. Ayotte and sharing my knowledge and concerns about three industries that are especially important to the North Country’s economy: forestry, recreation, and tourism. Through those conversations, I have seen her commitment to understanding the challenges facing our region and protecting the industries that support our communities and provide opportunities for hardworking Granite Staters.

I am confident Gov. Ayotte will continue standing up for the North Country, strengthening our economy, and protecting the New Hampshire Advantage that has made our state the envy of our neighbors.

Gov. Ayotte has kept her promises, and she has earned another two years serving the people of New Hampshire. I encourage my family, friends, neighbors, and all Granite Staters to join me in voting to reelect Governor Kelly Ayotte on Nov. 3. Eligible voters who cannot vote in person on Election Day can also contact their town clerk about obtaining an absentee ballot.
