Voters in Vermont House district Rutland-Windsor will choose between Republican incumbent Kevin Winter and Democrat Phoebe Tucker, both of Ludlow, for one seat on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The Valley News asked the candidates in a survey about their experience, why they are running and what they see as the biggest issue facing the state. Winter’s answers, edited lightly for style, appear below.
Winter, who has served two House sessions, says education costs are driving up property taxes without delivering results. He also points to a shortage of middle-class jobs and affordable housing. Tucker did not return the questionnaire.
