I will be voting for Mark Yuengling to represent Weathersfield, Cavendish and Baltimore in the Vermont House.

To be an effective representative in Montpelier requires the elected official to interface with the towns he or she represents. VL Coffin is the currently elected representative for the Windsor-2 district. Rep Coffin has failed miserably to connect with his district.

Rep. Coffin, in his two years in office, has never attended a Weathersfield School Board meeting. The previous session passed the most sweeping education reform package in Vermont history. A good representative would have made an effort to keep our school board informed.

Rep. Coffin, to the best of my knowledge, has failed to attend a single selectboard meeting to keep the board abreast of pending legislation. This despite serving on the Government Operations Committee.

I have yet to see Rep. Coffin at any community social event in Weathersfield. Also, he has never taken the time to release a newsletter to keep voters abreast of Montpelier happenings.

Take a look at Rep. Coffin’s voting record on the General Assembly website. You will see he signed on to two anti-vaccine bills, H60 and H61. He even voted against a resolution supporting Gov. Phil Scott’s position condemning the needless ICE shootings in Minnesota.

John Arrison, of Weathersfield, is a member of the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union Board and Weathersfield School Board
