Lebanon, NH – In loving memory of James E. Walker, Jr. (“Jim”), beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend, who passed away on September 20, 2026, after a courageous journey with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. He leaves behind a life defined by family, friendship, hard work, community service, and a love of sports, dancing, travel, cooking, and learning.
Jim was born on October 11, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Dr. James E. Walker and VanDelia Bonney Walker. He graduated from Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, in 1964 and from the University of Connecticut in 1970 with a double major in Mathematics and Chemistry.
In 1967, Jim married Karen Melendy, and together they raised two children, James E. Walker, III and Heather Lynn Walker Hubert. His career with Union Carbide and Atlantic Richfield took the family through several states.
In 1984, after the passing of his father-in-law, Sterling Melendy, Jim moved to Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he took over Harrison Insurance. He devoted 36 years to serving his clients and community before retiring in 2021.
Jim had a passion for soccer and golf. In Ohio, he founded the Westerville Amateur Soccer Program, which continues to serve the community. In Lebanon, he coached the High School Girls Soccer Team and tutored local students.
Jim loved cooking, reading, traveling, music, and swing dancing, but his greatest joy was his family. He treasured watching his grandsons play sports.
He is survived by his children, James E. Walker, III, his wife Tina, and Heather Hubert, her husband Robert; grandchildren Garrett, Christian, Joseph, and Grant; former wife and longtime caretaker Karen Cervantes and her husband Raul.
Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. A Celebration of Life will be held summer of 2027.
