Thank you for supporting literacy in Honduras
I have just returned to Norwich after attending the opening of a library in a Tolupan village in a remote mountain area of Honduras. The Tolupan are the poorest of the poor in the second most impoverished country in the Western Hemisphere, where individuals forget how to read because there is nothing to read.
Approximately 1,000 people joined the celebration, many from tiny villages miles away.
All of this was made possible by the concern and generosity expressed by the folks of the Upper Valley through contributions to the Honduran Tolupan Education Program (HTEP) and I am writing to thank you.
Releasing a mind from the imprisonment of illiteracy is a wonderful thing.
