New Hampshire has a solid voting system
I’d like to thank all of the election officials who go through trainings for their specific roles at polling stations and implement them with consistency and precision, using multiple resources to check and double-check their work. This includes moderators, ballot clerks, ward clerks, city clerks, supervisors of the checklist, greeters and all others involved in the voting process.
I had the eye-opening experience as a first-time volunteer with New Hampshire Campaign for Voting Rights to be a non-partisan poll observer. I saw registrars calmly assist voters whose last names had changed or who didn’t have the right proof of domicile document to legally register so that they could vote and have their voices heard. I saw moderators methodically count absentee ballots and transparently announce whether they were accepted or rejected (a minuscule number were rejected). I saw the ballot clerk team cheerfully and efficiently check in voters and work to keep the checklist up to date as to who had already voted.
It was nothing short of a well-oiled machine.
I recommend that everyone try being a poll observer. If you’re like me, you’ll experience a profound increase in your respect for your election officials and faith in our admirable voting system.
There is simply no truth to the narrative that our elections are rigged or otherwise compromised. Everyone can just put that worry to bed and be grateful for this breathtaking thing called American democracy.
