Lebanon, NH – Gordon H. (Buster) Plummer, 100, passed away on September 10, 2026 at the Veterans Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was born on June 29, 1926 to the late Gordon W. & and Fabolia (Daigle) Plummer and made his home in Lebanon his entire life.
Gordon graduated from Lebanon High School, class of 1944 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve in World War II as a gunner’s mate in the Pacific.
He married Nellie Glenboski on July 4, 1949, and settled into their home on Meriden Road.
Gordon worked for the Prudential Insurance Company for 25 years. He later worked at Dartmouth College Safety and Security for 34 years, which was by far his favorite job.
Gordon was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish where he served as an usher. He volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels at the Upper Valley Senior Center. He was a member of the American Legion Post 22 and DAV. Gordon took great pride in his property and loved mowing his lawn on his John Deere tractor. He loved telling stories about his years in the Navy. He also caned chairs for many people in Lebanon.
He is survived by his two children Ellen Philbrook of Manchester, NH and James and his wife Cynthia of Colebrook, NH, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and his very dear friend Patricia Aucoin.
He is predeceased by his sister Dorothea Stone, son-in-law James Philbrook, his great granddaughter Margaret (Maggie) Philbrook and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Veterans Hospital Especially Dr. Christopher Nice for their excellent care, also the many friends who lent him a helping hand during his later years.
Family and friends are invited to Buster’s calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Thursday September 17th from 4 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday September 18th at 11 AM at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery. Should one choose memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post 22 in Lebanon.
