Voting against interests, voting for more taxes
In your Aug. 28 piece “Farms nobody can afford to inherit,” about the difficulties farmers are facing, I was a little surprised that no one mentioned the sky-high taxes that are caused by out-of-control spending.
I know several of the people named in the article; I know them to be intelligent people, but I would wager that — in just a couple of months — they will vote to re-elect the same legislators that brought that spending and the accompanying taxes.
For what it’s worth: Taxes for my 1,800 square foot, three bedroom house on six acres of land in Carter County, Kentucky, are $64 annually. That is not a typo.
