There’s no such thing as a fisher cat
I’m writing regarding your recent article in the Sept. 1 edition of the Valley News entitled, “Suspected gray fox attack.” Near the end of the article you state that Lebanon Police Department identified the animal as a “fisher cat.”
If you check with New Hampshire Fish and Game, or do an internet search, you will find no such animal exists. If you have any doubt to this being true, look it up for yourself online or consult any of the Northern New England State Fish and Wildlife Departments.
You’re not alone! Many people are not aware that the fisher is a member of the mink family. They have no relation to felines!
