Recently, U.S. senate candidate Karishma Manzur came to Lebanon where she shared a painful chapter of her life that informs the way she views foreign and domestic policy, and can claim that she is a candidate for peace. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, her father was kidnapped and assassinated. She witnessed a genocide when she was only seven years old. Her family sought asylum in the Unite States. The irony of her story is the weapons that murdered her father were made by the country that provided safety to her family.
