A day in the life in the life of the Trump 2.0 administration
Here are just three items I read in a recent 24 hour news cycle. All are laced with cruel overtones:
The Department of Homeland Security is now arresting passengers at airports with pending green card applications. These applicants are fully compliant with their immigration check in requirements, but delays in processing the green cards resulted in their visas expiring. DHS is not meeting its goal of 2,000 deportations per month so it is tapping into this pool of the vulnerable.
Facing the on again/off again strictures of passage through the Straight of Hormuz and a resultant sustained rise in the cost gasoline, President Donald Trump advised Americans to “suck it up.” He says it’s the price for denuclearizing Iran. The ruling regime, of course, has no plans to accede to that.
Temporary Protective Status is not being extended for Ukrainian immigrants who fled here to escape the war with Russia. The administration deems it safe for them to now return home. Ukraine remains an active war zone where Russia targets civilians daily.
And this was just a smattering of reported events and another day in paradise under Trump 2.0.
