B. William Tucker

New London, NH – B. William Tucker, 88, of Hilltop Place, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at his home.

He was born in Claremont, NH on November 14, 1937 the son of Bernard Tucker and Blanche (Bartlett) Tucker Quartz. He served in the US Air Force from 1955-1959 and graduated from the University of NH with a business degree where he was a member of Lamda Chi Alpha.

From 1961-1965 Bill was an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was Operations Manager for W.T. Grant Company from 1965-1977 where he worked in Springfield, MA, Rockland, MA, Plainville, CT and Enfield, CT. He was co-owner and manager of Merits Clothing Store in Claremont, NH from 1972-1982. Bill was Audit Manager for the State of NH, Division of Mental Health in Concord from 1982 until his retirement in 2002.

He was a member of the Claremont Jaycees and Kiwanis and served on the Board of Directors of the Claremont Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Board of Directors for Lyon Brook Retirement Community in New London. Bill was a member of The First Baptist Church of New London and Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust. He enjoyed golfing particularly at Twin Lake Villa Golf Club, cocktail cruises on their pontoon boat and was a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots.

His wife, Helen (Parker) Tucker, died in 2023. He is survived by his three children and six grandchildren, Debra (Jeff) Yurek of Claremont, NH and their children, Caroline and Christopher; Richard Tucker (partner Michelle) of Merrimack, NH and children, Jordan and Austin; and James (Andrea) Tucker of Chicago, IL and their children, Alexandria and Sebastian; great granddaughter, Kennedy; daughter-in-law, Laurie Tucker of Hampton, NH; a brother, John B. Tucker of New London, NH; two sisters, Marion Forte of North Conway, NH and Nancy Ciardelli of Burlington, VT; nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. in the Elkins Cemetery, Elkins, NH.
