NEWBURY, Vt. — Vermont State Police have identified two victims injured in a shooting incident on Jefferson Hill Road on Sunday afternoon, as investigators are searching for a vehicle of interest.
Jonathan Garneau, 43, of Barre City, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and remains hospitalized at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, VSP announced in a news release on Tuesday.
“His condition is considered to be stable,” according to the release.
Detectives with VSP’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Major Crime Unit also released the identity of a second victim from Sunday’s incident.
Amanda Belville, 41, of Cabot, was physically assaulted and subsequently treated at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H., the news release stated.
The shooting occurred on Jefferson Hill Road at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, the Valley News previously reported.
VSP previously stated that they believed that shooting was “an isolated incident involving individuals who knew each other, and there is no identified threat to the community at large,” according to a news release on Sunday evening.
Investigators are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a bright yellow truck with a ladder rack and rust/rot damage along the lower driver’s side, which is a vehicle of interest in connection with the incident.
