Peter DeWitt Diebold

Boca Grande, FL – Peter DeWitt Diebold was born November 13, 1938, in Buffalo, New York. He passed away on July 13, 2026, in Boca Grande, Florida.

Peter received an exceptional education, attending The Elmwood Franklin School and The Nichols School in Buffalo, New York, Upper Canada College in Toronto, Ontario, and later studying at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts.

He began his professional career in banking, working in both Buffalo and New York City before pursuing his creative passions in advertising as a partner with Finley Green Advertising. In 1979, Peter and his beloved wife, Martha, relocated to Lyme, New Hampshire, where he founded Diebold Designs/Card Makers, a greeting card publishing company that became well known for its beautifully crafted corporate Christmas cards.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Martha; his daughters from a previous marriage, Hilary and Anne Diebold; two cherished grandchildren; and many devoted nieces and nephews who will remember him with great affection.

Peter found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved caring for his land in New Hampshire, taking evening cruises on the Connecticut River aboard his treasured boat, Eau Canada, and spending winters in beautiful Boca Grande, Florida. Whether surrounded by family, on the water, or enjoying the quiet beauty of nature, Peter embraced life with creativity, warmth, and appreciation for the places he loved.

A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date.
