Newport, NH – Linda Irene Nelson passed away from cancer at New London Hospital on July 14, 2026, with her family by her side, at the age of 82.
Linda is pre-deceased by her parents, George and Leola Fowler, her brothers, Robert, Ronald, Kenneth and Roger and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard Nelson of Newport; her children, Lynette Watters (Danny), Nickole Matheson (Sean), and Angela Nelson. She also leaves behind her grandsons; Emery Tarnoczy (Shawn), Kenneth Tarnoczy (Krishanna) and their children Everett and Roland, Clayton Tarnoczy, Benjamin Tarnoczy (Dawny) and their child Grayden and another baby on the way, and Scott Lord (Carolyn) and their child Orion, and several nieces and nephews.
Linda always enjoyed camping with family and friends, bowling, crafting, quilting, and playing cards before losing her vision due to macular degeneration several years ago.
Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends. She was able to spend quality time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends in her final weeks. Her smile, laughter and kind heart will be greatly missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life on August 1, 2026, at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Croydon, UCC, located at 883 Route 10 Croydon, NH with a reception immediately following at the Croydon Town Hall, located at 879 Route 10 Croydon, NH
