Secondary accomplishments
Bradleigh Bushee, of Orford, and Braylee Phelps, of East Corinth, earned a $1,000 scholarships from Bar Harbor Bank & Trust this spring. Bushee graduated from Rivendell Academy this spring, in addition to attending Hartford Area Career and Technical Center. She is planning to study baking and pastry arts, and business at Colorado Mesa University this fall. Phelps graduated from Oxbow High School, in addition to attending River Bend Career and Technical Center. She is planning to study nursing at the University of Lynchburg this fall.
Henry Swan, of West Lebanon, earned a National Merit Scholarship.
The following Upper Valley residents earned $1,000 scholarships from 802 Credit Union this spring: Tatum Flanagan, Windsor High School; Courtney Curtis, White River Valley High School; Julia Bowen, White River Valley High School; and Serentee Martel, Hartford High School.
Post-secondary graduations
The following Upper Valley residents earned bachelor’s degrees from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., this spring: Garrett Stever, Fairlee, marketing; Meagan Thompson, Grantham, health science/DPT; Morgan Kantor, Lebanon, health science/DPT; Bria Whitehair, Norwich, nursing; and Krista Miner, Sunapee, graphic & interactive design.
Post-secondary accomplishments
Summer Eastman, of Hartland, made the dean’s list at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga., for the spring 2026 semester.
Connor Bowen, of Sharon, who is studying geology at Hartwick College in Oneota, N.Y., made the dean’s list for the spring 2026 semester.
The following Upper Valley residents made the dean’s list at the University of Tampa in Florida this spring: Thomas Mangieri, Quechee, journalism; and Lauren Anzalone, New London, history.
Virginia Adams, of Hanover, and Kayla Burnham, of Hartland, made the dean’s list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, for the winter 2026 semester.
Jonah Flint, of Sunapee, earned faculty honors at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta for the spring 2026 semester.
Arianna Carr, of Claremont, who is studying psychology at Saint Michael’s College, made the dean’s list for the spring 2026 semester.
Meghanne Cheevers, of Lebanon, Ava Reed, of West Lebanon, and Mark Van Der Schoot, of Woodstock, made the dean’s list at Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I., for the spring 2026 semester.
Willing Hands gets grant to support food access at early childhood education centers
Willing Hands has received a $20,470 grant to provide more locally grown food to early childhood education centers in Orange and Windsor counties.
The Norwich-based nonprofit organization will use the funding from the Vermont Farm to School Grant Program to purchase Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares from Cedar Circle Farm and Education Center, Crossroad Farm, Deep Meadow Farm, and Honey Field Farm for early childhood education centers, according to a news release.
“This initiative not only helps strengthen local food systems and supports Vermont farmers, but also creates opportunities for children and educators to build meaningful connections with the food grown in their own communities,” Willing Hands Executive Director Gabe Zoerheide said in the release.
Caring Community Preschool, Creative Spirit Children’s Center, Creative Learning Early Childhood Education Program, Creative Nursery School, Little Feet Children’s Center, Tammie Hazlett Family Child Care, Immersion Montessori School at Pine, Maple Leaf Children’s Center, The Family Place, Orange County Parent Child Center, and Treehouse Children’s School are all participating in the program, which launched in June.
