WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The interchange ramp connecting motorists on I-89 North to I-91 North will be closed all day Wednesday due to roadway milling and paving, with delays anticipated.

The ramp closure is expected from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with construction likely to last no more than one day, weather permitting.

Ahead of the closure, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation issued a Friday alert advising travelers who wish to transfer between highways going north on I-89 to get off at Woodstock Exit 1, then turn back on I-89, this time going south.

From there, drivers can merge onto the I-91 North interchange to continue northbound.

Message boards and temporary construction signs will help direct traffic to the detour route during the construction period. Drivers should take caution passing through the construction zone, as noted in the alert.

The right lane of I-89 northbound may also be closed amid construction “beginning at Exit 20 in New Hampshire and extending beyond the interchange ramp into Vermont,” the Department of Transportation wrote in the alert.
