WEATHERSFIELD — The town finally has a general fund budget for the fiscal year that began July 1.
On Tuesday, voters passed a $2.02 million budget by a tally of 236 to 153.
The approval comes after two previous general fund budgets were defeated on Town Meeting day in March and then on May 19 after cuts were made. The approved budget is the same as the one defeated in May but the amount to be raised by taxes was cut by $45,000 to $1.58 million.
Voter turnout was 16% or 389 ballots from a checklist of 2,405.
It has been a long budget season for Weathersfield. Besides the general fund budget, voters rejected the school budget and highway budget on Town Meeting day, March 2.
The School District won approval of a $9.8 million budget in a second vote on April 14, and voters approved a highway budget of $1.3 million and two capital expenditures on May 19th, after all three spending proposals were reduced.
