Iran conflict will never add up
The US war with Iran continues to be a fiasco. Iran had already made Uncle Sam say, ‘uncle’.
While our Commander-in-Chief and Secretary of War, ‘Maximum Lethality Pete’ gleefully watched the early salvos on video game-like screens of our air force decimating Iran’s military, its new leaders shrewdly walked away with the store.
Despite expectations the battled raged on. Trump abruptly lost patience and decided to declare victory directing his team to head home from peace talks in Switzerland as he awaited gas prices dropping in time for the mid-terms. For their part, the Islamic Republic took home several prizes: fees for previously free passage in the Strait of Hormuz, access to billions of frozen assets, free reign to spend as it wishes from a new $300 billion reconstruction fund which we’ll pay for, and put further discussion to halt production of a nuclear bomb back on the shelf. Not a bad deal if you’re an Ayatollah.
This is but another example of Iran never winning a shooting war but never losing a negotiation.
