LEBANON — Gordon “Buster” Plummer celebrated his 100th birthday during a celebration at the Upper Valley Senior Center in Lebanon, June 28.

Nearly 100 family members and friends gathered to honor the lifelong Lebanon resident and World War II U.S. Navy veteran, according to family members. Plummer graduated from Lebanon High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the Navy.

After completing training, he served as a gunner’s mate third class aboard several Navy vessels, including the USS Samuel Chase. Plummer and his late wife, Nellie, raised their family in Lebanon, where he still lives to this day. After retiring from Dartmouth College as a security officer, Plummer volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

“He remains active, engaged, and deeply connected to the community he has called home for a century,” family members wrote in an announcement.
