FAIRLEE — Rivendell Interstate School District has hired a new principal for Samuel Morey Elementary School.
Marla Ianello has served as assistant superintendent for student support and operations at Orange East Supervisory union since 2024. Prior to that, she was principal at Bradford Elementary School, starting as interim leader in 2020 and taking the permanent job in 2021.
“Her experience includes overseeing multi-tiered systems of support, student services, civil rights compliance, wellness initiatives, and innovative approaches to data-informed decision-making,” the Rivendell district, which serves Fairlee, Orford, Vershire and West Fairlee, said Thursday in announcing Ianello’s hiring. “Most recently, she led the adoption of an AI-supported student data system to strengthen Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across the districts she serves.”
Ianello is the second administrator from Orange East to depart for Rivendell in recent weeks. Loretta Cruz, who had served as principal of Newbury Elementary School since 2021, was hired as principal of Westshire Elementary, the district’s other primary school.
